Product Description

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a 10-minute exfoliating facial.

With 30% Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% Beta Hydroxyl Acid (Salicylic Acid), Hyaluronic Acid Crosspolymer, Vitamin B5, Black Carrot and Tasmanian Pepperberry.

Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin's topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. Beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This combined 32% AHA/BHA solution offers deeper exfoliation to help fight visible blemishes and for improved skin radiance. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture and reduces the look of fine lines with continued use.

This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time. This formula is further supported with a crosspolymer form of hyaluronic acid for comfort, Vitamin B5 to assist healing and black carrot as an antioxidant.

This pH of this formula is approximately 3.6. Glycolic Acid, the primary AHA used in the formula, has a pKa of 3.6 and pKa is the most important aspect to consider in formulating with acids. pKa implies acid availability. When pKa is close to pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, maximising effectiveness of the acid and reducing irritation. Higher pH numbers in such a case would increase salt which counter-intuitively would make the formula even more irritating than if the formula was more acidic.

Alcohol-free, nut-free, gluten-free, soy-free, vegan.

Directions

Use ideally in the PM, no more frequently than twice per week. Clean face and wait for skin to dry. Do not use on wet skin. Apply evenly across face and neck using your fingertips. Leave on for no more than 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes both during application and rinse off. This low-viscosity solution is intended to be used as a masque. Do not leave on for longer than 10 minutes. If persistent irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician.

This formula contains a very high concentration of free acids. We recommend use only if you are an experienced user of acid exfoliation and your skin is not sensitive. Contraindications: this formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards. Use only as directed. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not quite to my expectations I have used the product 3 times, it makes my cheeks very red and hasn't improved my skin in any way. The skin on my nose is clearer and cleaner looking, so I'm only using it there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clears acne This is product is amazing for acne. I had a bunch of blackheads and whiteheads and after using this a couple times ive noticed they've started going away. i use this after washing my face with la roche posay foaming cleanser. Make sure to apply with completely dry skin because if your skin is slightly damp it will burn really bad. At first application it will tingle and burn a bit but it should stop as it dries. I leave it on for ten minutes and when i rinse it off with warm water, it my skin feels so soft. I have dry skin and this doesn't dry it out. I use it about two times a week which is the recommendation. Worth your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Anazing! I am a 47 yr old female and I have used a million anti-aging products on my face over the years. This stuff is amazing!! It makes my skin look great and I have no irritation. One thing however, avoid sun for at least a week after using. I went to Florida to visit my daughter a week after I used this and my cheeks burned fast, which is NOT normal for me. I highly recommend this!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright, clear skin! I was looking for a more advanced exfoliation serum. I am 52, have regular skin but larger pores along my T zone and across my entire forehead. I used another exfoliating serum that had similar ingredients but had a slightly lower AHA %. After just one use of this serum, I am sold!!! My skin looks so bright and clear. I am not noticing as much pore congestion either. This is for more advanced users. If that’s you, you won’t regret this!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Something’s changed I bought the peeling several times and it did an amazing job to my skin. Unfortunately it seems like there’s been a change in the formula, cause I got a new bottle and it’s like a completely different product… different colour, smell, different feel and it just doesn’t do the same job it used to. it may still be beneficial somehow, I’m not sure about that yet, but definitely not what I was looking for

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing skin already! I bought this a week ago and just started using it. I saw reviews saying it gave them chemical burns so I was a little nervous but I was also just nervous in general because it’s essentially an at home chemical peel depending on how you use it. The instructions say UP to 10 minutes meaning you can decide to use it even for just a couple minutes which is what I have been doing and then slathering on my most hydrating moisturizer. My skin looks so much better already!! It’s so smooth and I can see my pores clearing and shrinking. I have very sensitive skin but I haven’t had any adverse reactions. It stings a bit which is why I take it off so quickly. It’s important to realize that this is a HIGH amount of acids to be able to put on your face without a prescription. Be careful! And if you’re taking medications or have other exfoliating treatments for your skin please consult your doctor first! But this has worked wonders for me.

How many drops should you use when applying?

Asked by: Sophie
I don't count drops but instead I pipette it straight on the face making 2 inch lines... one on the forehead, one diagonally down each cheek, on vertically down the nose, one across the chin and a bit above my lip. I think it works out about two pipettes full. I then gently rub in circular motions ensuring not to get any under the eye area. Sorry for the bad explanation... I hope that makes sense a little bit!

Hi, Can i use a hydrating product after the peeling? Thanks, Irati

Asked by: Irati
Hi, When I use this I follow it with a hydrating toner (I use Elemis Apricot toner), then a hyaluronic acid serum (I use The Ordinary). I leave that for 10 minutes then apply a moisturiser (with an SPF if it's daytime). Hope this helps :)

Hi, After using this, can i use a retinoid or retinol toner?   Or can is it safe to use the retinoid or retinol toner before the niacinimide and zinc?  I have a really bad acne prone skin and it’s depressing!

Asked by: Angelica

Can I use lactic acid or retinoid after using this? Thanks

Asked by: Natasha
Hi, Thanks for reaching out to us. The brand advise the following: "A customer can use the The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution and then they should be able to use any of our Granactive Retinoid formulas afterwards without any problems. If they were using a retinol, it might be advisable to not use them on the same night just in case they experience irritation. We wouldn’t recommend using the lactic acid at all with the AHA peel as they are both exfoliating options and doing so risks over-exfoliating the skin, so we would recommend to use EITHER the peel OR the lactic acid formula." I hope this helps! Thanks, Chloe - Beauty Expert

My hand have some pigmentationnon their and have slightly beckme damadhed because im always cleaning and working.. can inuse this on my hands

Asked by: Bushra
Hi, Thanks for reaching out to us. The brand advises the following: "This product is not officially tested for use on the hands, so it should be used on this area at the customers discretion. As it hasn't been tested for use on the hands, we cannot claim that this product is safe for use on that area, however, logically it should be fine as skin on our hands tends to be thicker and less sensitive that skin on our face." I hope this helps! Thanks, Chloe - Beauty Expert
